Say hello to Reggie
Art in South Africa is both a vehicle of expression and a means of living for many of our people. We strongly believe that Art and the love thereof allows us to tap into the duality of life as it is and life as we wish it to be. Our commitment to South African art is yet another way that we at Regiments Capital want to share our deep commitment to the economic empowerment of South African people and to realise our Nation’s common vision for a better life for all. Your wire buffalo gift has been specially commissioned by Regiments Capital to share with you our passion, commitment and support of South African art. Based on our very own sculpture “Reggie” (picture to left below) who stands almost three quarters of a metre tall and proudly greets guests in our entrance hall, we hope that these replica’s will ignite in you the same passion we have for South African art, and we hope that this spark will prompt you to take another step closer in investing in our talented local artists as well.
The Artists: African Allsorts Bead and Wire Art
Started in 2004 as a job-creation, social upliftment enterprise outsourcing work to street artists, African Allsorts formalised its operation into a studio in March 2006. Majority Black female owned with a team of Black artists, we specialise in the production of high-end handmade bead and wire art. We operate in the spirit of fair trade and ensure that our artists, many of whom are the sole breadwinners of their families, are fairly remunerated.
African Allsorts strives to create a sustainable business, distributing original bead and wire art around the world through:
· Sound financial practice
· A skilled & creative work force
· Elevating the level of design & quality
· Effective supply chain management
· Effective marketing
· Satisfied customers
· Creating jobs
· Teaching disadvantaged people the skill of bead and wire art PRODUCTS
Handmade finely sculpted, intricately detailed bead and wire artwork including animal figurines, functional décor, soccer memorabilia and bespoke pieces commissioned by clients. Exceptional craftsmanship, unusual designs, attention to detail and unsurpassed quality, set us apart from our industry colleagues.
African Allsorts is committed to promoting bead and wire art to a global audience to ensure the survival and growth of this uniquely Southern African art genre. By so doing we will continue to provide stable employment for our current team as well as create more jobs for historically disadvantaged artists. While African Allsorts has made significant progress from its humble beginnings in 2004, we have to always strive hard to attain success in a highly competitive market. We welcome any support that would contribute to our sustainability and growth.
7 Step Production Process
1. Conceptualisation of the piece: Taking into account the clients’ specific requirements and our target market, this crucial step involves design elements like shape, dimensions, colour, texture and shading.
2. Glass seed beads are threaded onto binding wires several metres in length.
3. Frames are shaped out of galvanised steel wire of varying gauges depending on the individual piece.
4. Frames are checked, usually against a sample, for shape, size and sturdiness.
5. The threaded beads are fastened to the frame in a process called plastering or weaving.
6. Finishing touches are applied and thereafter the piece is subjected to stringent quality control checks.
7. Each piece is affixed with a swing-tag, bubble wrapped, labelled and packed into cardboard boxes, ready for delivery both locally and internationally.
